Lingenau/Vorarlberg – Although the Austrian province of Vorarlberg is still covered with snow, preparations for the most spectacular extreme sports event of the summer have already begun. On August 14, the world elite in mountain running, paragliding, whitewater kayaking, and mountain biking will participate in the ninth outdoortrophy. Olympic gold medalists, World and European champions, pros and amateurs – men and women from around the world will compete to win the unofficial outdoor sports world championships.

Prize money of 12,000 euros
“We look forward to welcoming top-class international athletes in Austria” states Chris Alge, head of the outdoortrophy competition. “The many inquiries from various countries show that the outdoortrophy has made a name for itself as one of the toughest team competitions in the world.” The prize money in the pro category has been increased to 12,000 euros. In addition to the many professional athletes, Chris Alge also wants to put the spotlight on competing amateurs. “The achievements of amateur athletes in this extremely challenging competition have really earned my respect.”

The battle against nature
The race starts with a 15-kilometer mountain run that has an altitude difference of more than 1,400 meters. As soon as the runner reaches the mountain top, the paraglide pilot takes off. The third athlete in the whitewater kayak battles against rapids and rides over a waterfall before the mountain biker starts the last leg. In addition to professionals and amateurs (both men and women), the event has a special category for company teams.

Legendary party
The race promises to be spectacular, just like the supporting program: The paraglide pilots from Draco Volans will cause a sensation with an acrobatic show and a helicopter base jump. Kids can be creative as they paint, drum, and make handicrafts or try the climbing wall. Saturday’s legendary outdoornight with the band Die dicken Kinder (The Fat Children) will be the highlight of the extreme sports event as it celebrates this extraordinary competition.
