Adventure Education Guide

Work to live? Live to work…
Historically in this issue each year, Adventure Magazine takes it upon itself to emphasize what is on offer in the ‘outdoor/adventure education’ environment.
Some years ago when we first started this overview, the types of courses were limited, even a bit basic but as the years have passed the changes in education throughout New Zealand have opened the door so wide that now every aspect of outdoor education can be pursued; from sky diving instruction to underwater dive instruction; from ski instructor to outdoor education facilitator.
Although these courses mainly have a hands-on approach they are not to be taken lightly; they require dedication and application.
However, this type of learning can make life-long changes; not just to your career path but to your attitude, well being and long term personal development.
It is our ardent hope that once you have read this magazine you will keep it or pass it on to someone who could use the direction in their learning development. We hope that it stimulates, motivates and directs them to some of the best outdoor/adventure education programmes on the planet.
These education programmes are the seedbed of our ‘adventure’ future; those who will lead, those who will direct, and those who will take responsibility.
Education is often put forward as the key to the future but regardless of how good the key, or how obscure the lock that it needs to undo, the power is in the hands of those who choose to turn it and we hope that these pages will inspire those who wish to take their turn…
