AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand has today added Taupo Bungy to its portfolio of adventure tourism experiences with the company set to take over the site in late November.
Bungy co-founder and managing director Henry van Asch says the acquisition of Taupo Bungy fits well with the company’s strategy of delivering epic tourism experiences in stunning surrounds.
“We’re delighted to have secured Taupo Bungy and we’re looking forward to building on what is an already thrilling experience in a spectacular part of the world.”
Mr van Asch says the company is committed to immersing itself in the Taupo community, just as it has done in Queenstown where the company launched the world’s first commercial Bungy operation more than 30 years ago.
“Taupo, like Queenstown, is a scenic and exciting visitor destination and we’re looking forward to working with Destination Great Lake Taupo and other local operators to further boost tourism in the region.
“We’re also excited to be a part of – and contribute to – the local community. And as part of this we’ll be rolling out a series of community initiatives that we operate in our other locations – such as our JumpStart programme where all school leavers living locally have the opportunity to (Bungy) jump into their future.”
Mr van Asch says the acquisition of Taupo Bungy rounds out a portfolio of adrenaline pumping experiences across its five other epic sites with the Taupo Bungy and Swing providing a different offering to those in Auckland and Queenstown.
“The mighty Waikato river and the geothermal springs activity nearby bring a uniqueness to the experience and we’re excited about putting an AJ Hackett Bungy twist on this.”
Founded in 1988, AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand today challenges more than 150,000 people every year to ‘live more fear less’ at one of its eleven Bungy, Catapult, Swing, Zipline, Bridge Climb, SkyJump and SkyWalk experiences across Queenstown and Auckland, and now Taupo.
