Entries to Chapter 8 of GODZone open at 9 am (NZT) today with teams from around the world expected to be vying for a racing spot at the prestigious adventure event.

The eighth installment of the world’s largest expedition race is being held for the first time in Canterbury from the 10th – 17th March 2019 with the historic French town of Akaroa designated as the host town.

GODZone Race Director Warren Bates says Canterbury will be a spectacular region to race through and teams will be in for an experience of a lifetime.

“ Canterbury changes things up for GODZone offering teams a massively unique landscape to adventure through which is refreshing and exciting. Each year we seek out a location that will provide racers will an array of different environments to experience, and Canterbury offers that and so much more.”

GODZone is one of the most influential adventure racing events globally and each year attracts international teams from around the world. Team spots are limited in three racing categories GZ Pure, GZ Pursuit and GZ Prime.

“ It’s always hard to predict who we will see coming through, but there is an opportunity with the new GZ Prime category to see teams stepping up to GODZone today and maybe some younger racers ready to take on the challenge,” says Bates.

” There are only so many teams we can accommodate at the race, so it’s first to come, first served and the best of luck to the teams that are successful in gaining a racing spot. Canterbury will be an adventure like no other.”
