Sailing Day Experience:
Onboard, the Hopper’s back-pack strap fit was a game-changer. Strapped securely like a backpack, it allowed for hands-free manoeuvring—a crucial feature when navigating the boat and getting on and off. The easy shut and open of the MagShield Access is unique and stops the ‘Who left the lid of the cooler??” complaint: The magnetic closure system, which snaps shut, ensures easy access to our drinks and snacks without compromising on temperature control and no change of being left open. It was New Zealand summer hot and the sun was relentless, the ColdCell™ Insulation kept chilled throughout the day, what went in cold came out cold.

The Hopper proved its ruggedness for a day spent on a remote beach. There was an hour or so of clambering over rocks and headlands, wading through waves and shallow water. The DryHide™ Shell coped with that with ease, it is not promoted as waterproof but it may as well be. The backpack’s HitchPoint™ Grid was a bonus, allowing us to attach extra gear and even a pocket to shove a phone in. The cooler retained ice for hours, and sandwiches and beers were cold after 4 hours. Of course you want to take your rubbish out with you after a day anywhere, so we used the Hopper for that as well, but it’s important to keep clean because it shuts so well. The Hopper also has mildew-resistant properties, which means no lingering odours or stains, even after exposure to the elements.
