Board Report for October 2024
Development continues in the Association’s Parks portfolio, with James Imlach, the NZMCA’s National Manager, Property & Policy, highlighting upgrades in the following sites:
- Dargaville: Penny (formerly known as KiwiCash) are installing four powered sites and an e-bike charger on site, following feedback from the Northland Area and members who have stayed at the park within the past 12 months
- Turangi: The installation of the dump station and perimeter landscaping are underway.

- Koromiko: NZTA has advised work on the right turn bay may be postponed until February 2025 due to contractor availability.
- Kaikoura Old Beach Road: The house (which was on the property when the NZMCA purchased it) has been removed and contractors have levelled the site suitable for further vehicle parking.
- Niagara: The Southland Area wants to remove the iron maiden as banking has become a burden on our volunteers. Wireless Nation are installing wi-fi at the park so members can pay online.
- Manapouri: Following advice from our land agent and a house removal contractor, the dwelling was sold to the highest bidder and the purchaser is in the process of removing the building – a complicated task which requires dividing the house into five separate removable parts.
NZMCA Parks and public campgrounds under development
- Glenorchy NZMCA Park: Contractors are making good progress on the park development work. We remain on track to open the park to members after the new year.
- Glinks Gully & Kellys Bay public campgrounds: Both campgrounds remain on track to open on Labour weekend. Members from the Northern Freewheelers SIG held a working bee at Glinks Gully recently and electronic gates have been installed. Check out the website here.
