Public lecture: Slip slidin’ away—glaciers and ice sheets in a warming climate
environement 🌿

Glaciologist and geophysicist Professor Sridhar Anandakrishnan will present the 21st S. T. Lee public lecture, titled “Slip slidin’ away: glaciers and ice sheets in a warming climate”, on 1 April 2025 in Wellington.
Professor Anandakrishnan works in the Department of Geosciences at Pennsylvania State University in the US. His research focuses on understanding how the fast-flowing glaciers of Antarctica and Greenland work and how they are changing. These glaciers figure prominently in global sea-level rise projections.
In his lecture, Professor Anandakrishnan will explain the glacier hydrologic system and outline the potential of glaciers in Antarctica and Greenland to significantly raise global sea-levels in coming decades. He will also offer insights into how his research can inform modelling of projected ice sheet change.
