December 27 2023 to 16 Jan 2024!
Kia ora Got To Get Out adventure lovers, Robert here, Got To Get Out founder and host of this upcoming trek to Mt Everest Base Camp!
Have you been dreaming of following in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay? Want to get fit, and have an adventure this New Year’s Eve?
We have TEN people already in for this trip of a lifetime, including me. I have space for a few more.
This month (September) I need to cancel the extra seats I’ve put aside with Flight Center. So, this is the last call before I cancel those held seats!
About the trip:
This will be my fifth time trekking in the region, and fourth time doing this particular hike (the other trek we did, was Annapurna Circuit).
Ten people are already IN, and there’s space for a few more, so the decision needs to be made now.
I can’t wait to help more Kiwi’s complete their ‘rite of passage’, through the Himalayas all the way up to basecamp, at 5,364m above sea level.
It won’t be easy, but it will be memorable!
This year, as usual, we are leaving Auckland right after Boxing Day: early morning 27th December. We are flying Singapore Airlines ex Auckland, to Kathmandu via Singapore.
If you live outside Auckland that’s fine, come and crash at one of our houses before catching the flight! Or come up on Boxing day.
On arrival, we will explore Kathmandu (Thamel, the main hub of mountaineering and hiking in the region) before flying to Lukla – to begin our roughly two weeks in the mountains.
You have plenty of time to get fit!
The 10 people who have joining this trip so far are from all walks of life, ages, and experience level. Mostly 20s/30s/40s but ALL ages are welcome, if you are fit healthy and capable of walking around 7 hours a day at a moderate intensity.
It’s NOT that hard – you just need to walk for a few hours, stop for a snack, then walk a few more hours to the tea-hut for dinner and bed.
Yes, it will be COLD at that time of year, but you can rent all the gear you need from our expert guiding company.
Our hikers have already started their training program but we can catch you up no problem. Training is overseen by Got To Get Out leader Isaac: Isaac is recommending a gradual process of hill work, long distance walks, and we will share our advice on gear to take to be best prepared for the cold weather and conditions in the Himalayas.
Once you join us, we will add you to our Facebook group chat, for training and gear.’

Expect to add another NZ$1000 to your budget for those things.
